ZTA Ceramic Substrate
Zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) ceramic substrates are a type of composite ceramic material with alumina as the matrix and partially stabilized zirconia as the toughening phase. Due to the excellent thermal conductivity, insulation, thermal shock resistance, and high mechanical strength of ZTA ceramics, ZTA ceramic copper-clad substrates are widely used in the fields of electric vehicle IGBT modules, LED packaging, and more. Alumina, with its high strength, high hardness, high wear resistance, oxidation resistance, and thermal shock resistance, is widely applied in machinery, electronics, and chemical industries. However, the low fracture toughness and poor impact resistance of alumina limit its wider application. By adding toughening materials to the alumina matrix, adverse phenomena can be significantly improved, among which zirconia toughened alumina ceramic technology has been proven to have a very significant toughening effect. Used in advanced industrial sectors such as high-power electric vehicles, aerospace, and military applications, ceramic substrates with strong current carrying and thermal conductivity are required. ZTA substrates enhance reliability, corrosion resistance, and chemical stability, featuring high fracture toughness and bending strength, high temperature resistance, high current capacity, high insulation voltage, high thermal capacity, and thermal diffusivity, as well as a thermal expansion coefficient similar to silicon, making them urgently needed high-performance ceramic materials for DBC ceramic copper-clad substrates and LED circuit boards.
